Josh Wanamaker.
I’m a Principal/Lead UX Writer, UX Consultant, and Content Designer/Strategist for Fortune 50 clients in Silicon Valley and beyond.
Thanks for checking out my portfolio page. I've worked in UX for around 7 years, and currently hold Principal/Lead seniority in that space. Prior to working in UX I was a tech writer for ten years and a freelance journalist for a decade, overlapping.

I specialize in microcopy, brand communication, voice & tone standards, enterprise documentation, help center articles, end-user content, and the creation of style guides, design systems and knowledge bases.
I've worked in editorial fields for around 16 years, including journalism, copy writing/editing, proofreading, tech writing and UX. Before and during that time, I worked in game development for around 10 years in a large number of roles, including creative writing, content design, voice acting, community support and more. I've worn a lot of hats.

Senior Content Designer

• Senior Content Designer for Microsoft D365 Connected Spaces, a retail-focused AI product that uses real-time data from security cameras to improve in-store operations.
• Managed all written Connected Store content, including microcopy, terminology, and messaging. Kept product to Microsoft style guidelines.

• Developed content plans for team adoption of term use, user-education materials, and video tutorials.
Alight Solutions
Senior Content Designer

• Senior Content Designer for an initiative to develop a proprietary design system called ADS.

• Wrote a comprehensive style guide to govern voice & tone, grammar, punctuation, accessibility, etc of the Alight Design System documentation.

• Built the ADS knowledge base within the Zeroheight CMS. Used Figma to produce component reference examples

Senior UX Writer / Content Strategist

• Content Lead and STO for new treaty underwriting app TreatyIQ. Planned, wrote, and managed all app content, including microcopy and messaging.
• Lead a small group of tech writers to produce a 100-page, 14,000+ word user guide for TreatyIQ.
• Spearheaded an In-App content feature for TreatyIQ. Wrote 300+ microcopy items for the app.

• Spearheaded a complete corporate style overhaul for all internal and external documentation.

• Designed, wrote, and implemented a 60+ article Style Guide in two separate headless CMSs.

• Worked with the Confluence admin team to audit the company's massive 60,000-page internal KB down to about 20,000 individual pages.

• Reformatted/rewrote/redesigned 300+ existing KB articles with Confluence and CSS according to updated style guide rules.

• Wrote scripts and story-boarded training videos.

• Used the Adobe CC Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) to produce graphics assets for articles.
